Beckinfield FAQ

  • Beckinfield is a fictional small town with a big secret — and a stage for you to tell your own story. It’s part book launch, part interactive storytelling experience, where you can step into town as your own character and share short videos that become part of the unfolding drama.

  • Yes. Buried in Beckinfield, the upcoming novel by Bob Gebert, is set in the same mysterious town. The interactive experience is a companion to the book launch — but the videos you create are your own stories within that world.

  • Not at all. You can be as theatrical or as low-key as you like. All you need is your phone, your imagination, and the willingness to pretend you live in a place where something’s just a little… off.

  • It’s simple:

    1. Create a character — you choose the name, personality, and backstory.

    2. Record a 30–60 second video in character on your phone.

    3. Post it to Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, or YouTube with the hashtags #BeckinfieldFF and #BeckinfieldNovel.

  • The Beckinfield Bulletin is your weekly insider’s guide to the story. It’s where you’ll find new town gossip, prompts, and hidden details to help inspire your videos. Think of it as your direct line to what’s happening in Beckinfield.

  • It’s a free novella that takes you deeper into Beckinfield’s history. Reading it will give you extra context, but it’s optional — you can jump into the story without it.

  • No. Participate as often or as little as you like. The more you post, the more your character becomes part of the town’s living story.

  • That’s fine too! You can follow #BeckinfieldFF on social media to watch the videos and keep up with the weekly Beckinfield Bulletin.
